Minimising our impact on the environment

Leeming Pilkington has an environment policy that guides our actions, and we are always happy to demonstrate our ongoing efforts to lessen the impact of our business on the environment.

A good illustration of our approach is is in our chosen laundry and linen supplier. We use The Caterers Linen Supply, based in West London, which is the UK’s first steamless laundry and probably the most eco-friendly one in the UK. With its plant run entirely on gas, 25% energy is saved and water usage is reduced by an average of 70%.

Throughout our business we invest in low energy electrical items, including commercial fridges and freezers from Gram Refrigeration, whose products have topped the energy efficiency charts in the Energy Technology List (ETL) managed by the Carbon Trust.

We have never been more aware of the part we can play in reducing our negative impact on the environment, and have made numerous changes from the ground up. This covers everything from minimising ‘food miles’ through to reducing our energy costs and recycling our waste.

We also support our clients’ environment policies through a number of initiatives, such as the introduction of biodegradable disposable products and the recycling of packaging. And our focus on even the smallest potential saving means that we increasingly use timers on vending machines and other ‘always on’ items, to ensure they do not consume power when there is no-one around to use them.
